About Fiona

I qualified as a social worker in the UK in 1996.  I then worked for the local authority in Scotland supporting children, their families and individuals, with many issues such as: parenting difficulties, mental health, disability challenges, drug/alcohol issues and child protection.  Following this I went on to specialise as an Intensive Support Worker, supporting children and their families at risk in the community.  This involved finding creative ways to build on families’ strengths and resources to promote resilience.

Whilst working as a social worker I qualified as a Human Givens Therapist in 2002 in the UK and arrived in Australia in June 2004, becoming the first qualified Human Givens practitioner in Australia.  Since then I have been running my own successful counselling practice on the Redcliffe Peninsula,  providing effective brief therapy for individuals, couples, children and families as well as running workshops and training for local community organisations.  I went on to complete my Bachelor in Social Work Degree in 2010.

I work mainly work with individuals, but have also worked with couples, children and their families on occassion as required.  Although I specialise in working with post traumatic stress, panic attacks, anxiety, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder and depression, I also have many years of experience working with relationship issues, addiction, weight control and parenting issues.
